I thought the 5 E's lesson format was more useful for a unit plan. It was difficult to tweak it for my lesson plan. The basics of the lesson plan template are similar to what I use currently but parts of it seemed redundant. I feel that's more suited for a science unit.
Technology is difficult for me to incorporate in many lessons. In my building, we have one computer lab with 30 computers for 1,000 students. In my classroom, I do have an interactive whiteboard but haven't had any training on how to use it :(
Laurie,
ReplyDeleteMy lesson plan template is also similar to the Walden template, but more streamline. However, the Walden template made me reflect more on what I was doing, as compared to my normal template. Maybe I am so used to my school template that I just fill it in without really considering what I am doing. I'll have to think about this some....
I am no expert on the whiteboard or on blogging, but I have had experience. If you ever have any questions, I will be more than willing to help.
I make up my own lesson plans without a template. I consider most of the things in Walden's template, but I don't write all of them down and make checklists and such. I really just think about the students and plan to have a plan and several backup plans just in case I need to take more time in one area or another.
ReplyDeleteI agred with oyu on another classmates blog and am going to of course do the same here. I would be hard pressed for time to get anything else accomplished if this was the plan template I had to use for my daily lessons. It is extremely detailed and would be good for the construction of a unit plan. I am glad someone else agrees with me.
ReplyDeleteI also agree that this is more useful for a unit plan, but like Denise, it makes me think more about what I am doing and why I am doing it. The lesson plan took a tremendous amount of time, but the unit plans that I have to use for the Middle Years Program at my school is very similar. The 5 E's were repetitive of the methodology section, but it was good to think about why the methods I chose were effective for engaging my students and evaluating appropriately. For my daily lessons, I used to type them up painstakingly every day, but now I use the unit planner and a lesson plan calendar which has worked this year. It gets easier with each year working with a certain age group, it's funny how similar and yet so different they are. My units are never the same from year to year.
